A floral OOTD from someone who hates florals….

Shirt - Topshop
Leggings & ring - Primark
Boots - Dr Marten

I'm not the worlds biggest floral lover by any stretch of the imagination….but I found this shirt lurking in the depths of my wardrobe last week and decided that, even though it has more of an Autumnal air about it, I'd give it a shot. I love this style of shirt, perfect to throw on with leggings and boots with an oversized denim jacket for cooler days.

How else would you style something like this?

My go-to spring outfit….and no floral prints in sight….

Top - vintage shop
Jeans - Zara
Bag - River Island
Dr Martens - Dr Marten shop
Watch - ASOS
Sunglasses - RayBan

I'm sorry but spring does not always = pastel and floral. I find spring the hardest season to buy clothes for as shops seem to be full of pretty prints and cute colours which, in general, are not for me. So this spring I'll be living in my skinny jeans, black boots and vest top. If I'm going to do colour….it will be on my lips. Usually in the form of a red-orange matte lipstick.

Anyone else not a floral fan? Or am I on my own here?

Summer shorts and t-shirt OOTD...

Denim shorts and a t-shirt is my go-to summer outfit choice, and as it's heating up over here it's what I've been reaching for more and more on a daily basis.

T-shirt - market
Belt - New Look
Shorts - Myer (Australia)
Chain - Colette (Australia)

I can see my t-shirt collection slowly expanding from here on out.

What's everyone's go-to outfit at the moment?

Australian TK Maxx equivalent...

Shopping with the boyfriend and his parents last week, we popped into a shop called Trade Secrets which I assumed to be some sort of DIY shop. Oh how wrong I was. It's a much smaller scale, neater version of my beloved TK Maxx....safe to say I was sampling a little piece of heaven.

I picked up a few bright tops and cotton dresses for summer, and was happily wandering to the till's when I spotted this little number on the end of a rack, looking very lonely and unloved. Being the kind hearted girl that I am, I bought it home with me and we've had a firm friendship ever since. I think this sheer flowered shirt is one of my new favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

As I was going out in the evening I paired it with tights, shorts and my Dr Martens, but I also want to team it with my disco pants or just some denim shorts and flipflops for a laid back beach vibe.

Oh TK Maxx how I was missing you, but...for now.... I've found a substitute.

Three ways to wear….a flowery summer dress....

Well there was me thinking the summer was over and then, suddenly, we're in the middle of a heatwave and I'm not prepared in the slightest! To be fair I'm quite pleased as a few summery pieces I bought this season actually remain pretty un-worn! For example, I bought this flowery dress from H&M (no idea why, not my usual style at all) and even took it on holiday with me but it didn’t get worn at all. In case you’re in the same boat as me and can’t think how you can wear said summer dress over the next few months….here you go….

Night time:
This is so simple, and I know still a bit summery but the weather today made me want to get my legs out!! Whack a load of Fake Bake on and pretend you’re showing off a late summer tan and I think you’ll get away with it!

Dress: H&M
Wedges: Forever21
Clutch: Bank
Cuff: Topshop

Work:
This is how I actually wear the dress now, it’s not really my style to wear in the daytime to go out shopping or whatever, as I’m really not a floral person! But it is comfy and I can layer it up with cardigans and jackets over the winter so I think I can get away with this.

Dress, blazer & handbag: H&M
Tights and shoes: Primark

Casual:
It’s my personal belief that you can add a leather jacket, black tights and biker boots to anything and it will look fine, and I think this probably stretches as far as this dress. It just gives it that edgy feel, although I’d prefer doing this look with a lace dress. Like I said, floral isn't really my thing!

Dress & leather jacket: H&M
Bag: Urban outfitters
Boots: Step in style
Tights: Primark

I'm going to be doing a few more of these three ways to wear post, because like I mentioned in a previous post I'm trying to wear all my clothes in my wardrobe loads until I buy anything new unnecessarily!
How else would you wear this dress?

(P.S. note to self. don't buy floral!)

jump in the pool.....

Today I wore:

Grey drop crotch suit trousers (rolled up because the sun was shining!): Zara
Black t-shirt: Primark
Patent brogues: Office

And for some reason I decided to wear some stupid peach glittery eyeshadow which just made my face sparkle all day. Error! Also, I thought I'd add some colour with my scarf, which the lady in Tesco kindly told me she thought was 'pretty'. She then asked me where it was from, and when I said 'I got it at V festival last year' she went 'well I'm not likely to go there am I?!?' Sorry love, I'll lie next time.

OK OK so I went shopping after work. I'm bored of all my clothes all ready, and in fairness I did go in to get some of mums mothers day present. So what if I ended up with one or two (or more?) items for myself? I've been working hard after all!

Topshop: £18

I was going to get this in cream (for work) but was quite a fan of the navy. I stood there with both of them in my hand for ages and then I thought of the very wise words of my mate Kellie (she claims herself to be a VERY big navy fan) that 'navy is great, goes with everything' (or something along those lines) and went for this one. Will go with my pale grey Oasis peg leg trousers. Maybe even tomorrow if the sun stays out?

Dress: Topshop

BIG fan of maxi dresses atm, but it's far to cold to wear nice summary ones. Plus I love black. And anything plain. This is going to be worn with either biker boots and a big chunky knit cardigan, or some espadrilles and a checked shirt, and I'll probably wear the plum lipstick with it. It just fits. Not round the boyfriend though. He hates maxi dresses and coloured lipstick, so don't think this would be a winner! Although saying this, this dress gives me serious curves!

I went for another maxi which I'm not too sure about, think it could do with being a size smaller because it doesn't hang properly around the bottom (see below)

River Island did me proud today, I was a big big fan. Got a nice chunky cardigan that will look so nice over my new black Topshop maxi or just a tshirt and jeans, but I can't wait to wear it as a cover-up in the summer over ripped denim shorts and a crop, when it cools down in the evening.

Not the biggest floral fan in the world but I loved this. With black tights and tan brogues it will look lovely, probably for work but I also fancy taking this for a trip out at night. The pocket details are so cute, and the fabric will be nice for the summer when I can go bare leg (big apologies for the state of my fat pale legs in these pics btw! need a tan).

I'm a big supporter of over the knee socks. Black dress, shoe boots, and over the knee socks. Denim shorts, pumps, checked shirt and over the knee socks. I love them over patterned tights, opaques, lit
literally everything, but I'm not scared to admit that I'm a bit one dimensional. They're always black. So I thought I'd jazz it up a bit and get some different coloured ones. These were from Next and I love them too much, they're probably getting worn on Saturday night to a party I'm going to, with the River Island shoes I've got on in this picture (and maybe the new skirt?)

Oh and also, I love a blazer. This one is the same as my black one I've had on here before, the £15 H&M beauty, but I thought I'd go 'wild' (sorry bad one) and get the grey and black leopard print one!
