Three ways to wear....lace....

I used to own a lot of lace but realised there was only certain ways it could be worn to look good. Browsing through my wardrobe I decided to pull some of the pieces out that I still own and put a few looks together to show you how I wear lace.

Smart: I'd wear this look for work, basically just a lace shirt from the New Look sale a few years ago, with some black jeggings and the Allegra boots from Topshop. For cooler days, I'd pop a blazer over the top.

Night out: I'm not one for dresses but this is a real old staple in my wardrobe. It was about £13 from Primark and I've worn it to death but if I ever need to 'dress up' I have this as an option. I just paired it with a nude bag, some black tights and black suede wedges.

This one is a bit of a mix and match outfit, I'd personally wear this out at night or for dinner out, or I'd throw on my converse and denim jacket and go shopping in it. These lace leggings are so versatile! If you don't want to go for full on lace, you could go for a hint of lace like the picture below, with some lace edged cycling shorts.

How else would you wear lace?

Three ways to wear....a maxi dress...

It's been such odd weather, this time last week I was boiling and moaning I couldn't get cool, now I'm moaning about the total opposite! I've lived in maxi dresses this summer, and I've got a couple that I don't really want to put away in the back of my wardrobe just yet, so here's some different ideas on how to wear yours....

Work

Maxi: Primark
Blazer and handbag: H&M
Belt: off a playsuit from Very Moda

I wore this look quite a bit over the summer with a pleated maxi skirt instead of a dress. It looks quite smart and is nice and comfy, but I’m not sure how much longer you could get away with wearing it for now the weathers turning.

Night

Dress: Primark
Wedges: Forever21
Clutch: Bank

I’d personally never really think to wear a maxi skirt or dress for a night out as my sort of nights out usually involve hours of heavy dancing, spilt drinks from the idiots who frequent my local town, and walking the streets eating chicken nuggets until 5am (I am classy, honest). This would be nice to go for a drink or out for dinner though, and you could put a denim jacket over it for these cold nights we’re not getting.

Day

Dress and Bag: Primark
Boots: Office
Cardigan: New Look

This is my favourite of the looks, and could be worn for so many occasions. It's a great way to bring the maxi dress into the winter and I think you could layer this up underneath quite a lot too with leggings and vest tops for extra warmth.

How else would you wear your maxi dress? Would you still wear it with a jumper for the winter?

Three ways to wear….a flowery summer dress....

Well there was me thinking the summer was over and then, suddenly, we're in the middle of a heatwave and I'm not prepared in the slightest! To be fair I'm quite pleased as a few summery pieces I bought this season actually remain pretty un-worn! For example, I bought this flowery dress from H&M (no idea why, not my usual style at all) and even took it on holiday with me but it didn’t get worn at all. In case you’re in the same boat as me and can’t think how you can wear said summer dress over the next few months….here you go….

Night time:
This is so simple, and I know still a bit summery but the weather today made me want to get my legs out!! Whack a load of Fake Bake on and pretend you’re showing off a late summer tan and I think you’ll get away with it!

Dress: H&M
Wedges: Forever21
Clutch: Bank
Cuff: Topshop

Work:
This is how I actually wear the dress now, it’s not really my style to wear in the daytime to go out shopping or whatever, as I’m really not a floral person! But it is comfy and I can layer it up with cardigans and jackets over the winter so I think I can get away with this.

Dress, blazer & handbag: H&M
Tights and shoes: Primark

Casual:
It’s my personal belief that you can add a leather jacket, black tights and biker boots to anything and it will look fine, and I think this probably stretches as far as this dress. It just gives it that edgy feel, although I’d prefer doing this look with a lace dress. Like I said, floral isn't really my thing!

Dress & leather jacket: H&M
Bag: Urban outfitters
Boots: Step in style
Tights: Primark

I'm going to be doing a few more of these three ways to wear post, because like I mentioned in a previous post I'm trying to wear all my clothes in my wardrobe loads until I buy anything new unnecessarily!
How else would you wear this dress?

(P.S. note to self. don't buy floral!)
