Weekly review...Bobby Brown Corrector...

As of this week, I am no longer a Bobby Brown virgin. I’ve got no idea why I’d never bought from the brand before, but I don’t think anything really stood out to be until now. And now, I am the proud owner of the under eye corrector thanks to weeks of reading hundreds of blog reviews (yes ok I know there’s no need for another one but sorry it had to be done) and seeing people literally rave about it. I suffer from particularly bad dark circles under my eyes and although the Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer in medium does a decent job, it just wasn’t quite good enough.

Anyway I went to the lovely lady at my local Bobby Brown counter who stripped me of my current under eye makeup so my dark circles were on view to the whole of John Lewis (cheers for that) and then worked her magic with the corrector. Basically, if you don’t know, the colours in it work against the blue’s and purples of under eye circles to neutralise the skin and take the dark pigments away. Pop a normal concealer or a very light layer of your usual foundation over the top (the corrector is a very peachy colour so looks a bit un-natural on it’s own) and the results were fabulous. Apologies for the scary before and after pictures....

(before, and coming to you with DEEP apologies for my eyebrows, they were about to be waxed!!)

(after, and yes I know I look paler but the light had changed. Please note my lesser dark circles!)

Anyway I can tell you I was suitably impressed, and although I won’t be turning my back on my Lasting Perfection concealer anytime soon, this is up there as one of my favourite products for the job. As well as a concealer over the top, I’ve been enjoying popping a illuminating concealer (along the lines of the Touch Éclat) over the top of the corrector which gives a lovely finish too, three that I have been switching between are by Collection 2000, Sleek, and my latest edition from Vivo. I’ve popped swatches below but if you want to see any more in-depth reviews on these let me know!!

Does anyone else use the Bobby Brown corrector as their miracle product?

Top 10 Lip Products....

I've been meaning to do this for AGES and finally got around to it. I've got quite a nice week actually, lots of free time to catch up on my blog and youtube, so hopefully get an early August favourites up before my busy weekend then holiday!

Anyway I hope you enjoy this one, I've not done swatches separately on here because they actually showed up quite true to life on the video, and I'm sure you've seen a lot of them before anyway.

Does anyone agree with any of my favourites? I love so many it was hard to pick!

On a separate note, I just want to take a minute to mention something totally unrelated to my blog. Two guys I know are off to Afgan tomorrow, an ex boyfriend on his first tour with the Army, and one of my good friends is off on his third tour in Afgan with the Royal Marines, so just taking a minute to wish them both good luck and I hope they stay safe. 'Luckily' my friend in the Marines is only out until the end of October hopefully, so I'll see you home safe and sound in a couple of months pal :)

There's 'shopping' and then there's 'shopping'....

Hey lovelies! Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. I had a very very quiet one but it was nice to just chill out and relax. I went shopping with the parents on Sunday, but shock horror I didn't buy anything (apart from makeup remover and cleanser, but as these were essentials I feel they don't count!).

I took a quick OOTD for you, I wasn't a huge fan of this for a few reasons....

I never really wear leggings any more apart from when I'm jumping around the garage like a mad woman attempting to re-create the Pump It Up/WAGS workout/ Colleens bootcamp (delete as applicable) keep fit DVDs.
I also don't wear sandals. I sort of allow them under maxi skirts and dresses, but I HATE my feet in general and I think sandals just showcase them even more. As you cam probably tell from most of my OOTD posts I'd rather throw on a pair of Coverse or Nike's with a summer dress or denim shorts. So for some reason I combined both of these things in one outfit yesterday....please don't draw attention to the fact I look a bit of a tramp....

Jacket: Topshop
Top: Forever21 in New York
Leggings: Primark
Shoes: Office
Jewellery: mostly Primark
Watch: TW Steel

On another note, I bought a couple of the Collection 2000 Cream Puffs, their new moisturising lip creams. I wasn't sure what I expected from these but I loved them. They were a really subtle colour and you only need a tiny bit or they can look a bit 'cakey', but they smell AMAZING and go on smoothly, are seriously long lasting, and a nice alternative to a gloss.

(l- Fairy Cake, r- Powder Puff)

If you like a tinted balm then I think you'll love these, lovely and soft, don't dry your lips out and don't have a sticky feeling that makes your hair stick to your lips as soon as the wind blows. Over all I think these are amazing, and I can't wait to get them in a few other colours!

Has anyone else tried these? Or any of the other colours?

NOTD....

Hey guys sorry I’ve been a bit MIA recently this week, not been feeling to great and just wanted to come home and crash on the sofa every night. That means you get two posts this evening (I actually wrote this one yesterday then was too lazy to put it up!) and first up is a quick nail of the day.

Since I’ve had me gel nails on (which are getting too long now but I’ve still got A WEEK to wait until I can have them in filled and done) I’ve had to be careful what colours I wear, as I always worry about putting a dark colour on and staining them. I’ve swapped between coral and mint green since having them done; until I came across a new nail varnish I’d not used yet lying in the bottom of one of a box which is always exciting. It’s one of the Collection 2000 Hot Looks colours in Candy Floss and it’s such a gorgeous colour.

I’m a fan if this range of nail colours anyway, I think they have a lovely range of shades, but this one might be my favourite yet!!

(hate how zoom makes my nail painting efforts look terrible!!)

Curly Sue....?

First of all I'd like to say a huge huge thank you to all my lovely comments on my first YouTube video, and I got like 6 subscribers within about half an hour which was lovely!

So anyway I popped into my local Superdrug today and it was having a makeover which was very exciting!! There's all new makeup stands and it looks like the perfume area is having an overhaul, but it was still a bit of a mess. Can't wait to see the finished article. The mess didn't stop me spending money though....

Even looking at this picture is upsetting me. I've heard so many good things about curling wands, and there's so so SO many pictures on people's blogs of their hair when they've said they've used one to create their look. So I popped down to Superdrug and bought the Remington Pearl Wand (heard so many good things about this one!) and let me tell you it has stressed the HELL out of me :(

I cannot get it to work, my hair just looks frizzy and afro-like (much like my natural hair actually!) I even sat and watched youtube tutorials for an hour and I still can't manage it. And as for trying it on my hair extensions....well that was a disaster. I resemble Curly Sue from the 90's film actually.

So anyway there were actually a couple of more successful items from today's trip....

I literally stood in the hair dye isle for about 15 minutes, with plum in one hand and black cherry in the other. Then I put down plum and picked up a lighter red colour. Then I just gave up and stuck with Black Cherry which I've used for the past 6 months. The way I see it....if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I'll probably dye it on Saturday before the big night out on Sunday!

I've finally done it, and spent £12 on a hair brush. The Tangle Teaser is an absolute godsend, I used it on my towel dried hair after my shower, and on dry (and very knotted) extensions, and when usually I'd have a brush full of hair, I didn't when I used this. I think it needs a few more tries to see if it really was worth the money but so far, I think this is an absolute beaut brush, it might even make my extensions last a bit longer!

Again, another thing I'm pretty excited about....volumizing powder. I haven't tried it yet but I went for a cheaper one just in case I hated it. I'll do a quick review on this when I've used it.

I've been on the look out for a bronzer like this for ages and have been toying with the idea of the Fake Bake bronzing block, until I spotted this. It's a dupe for the Fake Bake bronzer, but for a smidgin of the price. I can't remember exactly but it was around the £5 mark. It's from the Famous collection by Sue Moxley and they had about 5 variations of it. This one is Shade One in Golden Rose. The colour is so shimmery and even though the bronze strips are quite dark, the pinks in it lighten it up and make it really easy to wear.

I decided I need to collect some more eyshadows as I'm a bit boring on that front. I got the Beauty UK number 4 pallet, and I have to say I'm a bit scared. I mean...it's got green in it...!!! I only EVER use gold or brown, and the occasional pink, so this is breaking me in gently.

I'm really trying to get away from black or dark purple nail colours which I usually wear, especially with summer coming. As soon as I saw this colour from the limited edition Gosh range I decided this was the way for me to go. It's 001 in Lavender and the first Gosh nail varnish I've ever bought so can't wait to try it out!!

Another Beauty UK treat, their lipstick in Candy. Love this colour, but I'll leave it there for now on this as I'm going to do a post about my lipstick collection soon.

And lastly, I took advantage of the two for £4.99 offer on Collection 2000 and got another two of my absolute favourite lip glosses I've ever used. I'm not usually a lipgloss fan, I tend to just use a balm alongside a lipstick, or just a clear lipgloss over the top of a lipstick to make it less obvious. These are from their Lock 'n' Hold collection which claim to last for up to 6 hours. I don't know about that, but they taste incredible, and stay on for ages, even when I'm sipping my vodka lemonade and lime on a night out. These two are in (l) break dance and (r) rock steady. Break dance is actually really surprising for a lipgloss, the colour is a REALLY strong coral even without wearing it with lipstick. Big big recommendation for these.

READ THE BLOODY LABELS....

Just a quick one, I went into Boots before work today and made a few purchases. I am in serious need of new eyelashes so I thought I'd go wild and try some different ones that I've read quite a lot about on people's blogs recently...

I'm usually all about Eyelure. I've tried every single pairs of their lashes from natural daywear ones to double thickness dramatic ones. But I'd heard a lot about Ardell lashes so I went for number 105 which look similar to my favourite Eyelure ones. I'm not convinced I'll like the glue in these as I have never found one I like as much as Eyelure, but saying that I've got about 9 bottles in my makeup bag!

On the subject of eyelashes, HOW excited am I about the new Superdrug handmade eyelashes. For under £5 for a set of single thickness lashes, I REALLY can't wait to work my way through the collection. I've got July 6th written in my diary as a date to remember!!

I also took the plunge and went for an Illuminating pen for under my eyes. I don't really notice it much usually but in pictures my dark circles under my eyes are disgusting. I really want a top range one but went for Collection 2000 for my first one to see how I get on with it. I've heard great reviews on this for a cheaper end of the range product, although I think all of the shades looked REALLY pale for my skin so I might just use the tiniest amount and blend blend blend!

I also bought a new Mascara because I feel like I need to get out of my mascara rut. I always use Bourjoir clubbing in blackest black (normal in the day, waterproof at night) and wanted to see what the fuss was all about for these 'false lash effect' mascara.

Only problem is I didn't read the blood label and I picked up a brown/black colour which I CANNOT use so I'm going to have to give it to mum and go and buy a new one. Really annoyed because I wanted to use it straight away and test it out but nope, I'm an idiot and didn't buy the right one. So that's me off to boots on my lunch break tomorrow...
