Careless Whispers...

New product excitement alert! As much as I love the look of a mat, bright lip, I always find myself reaching for something with more moisture on a day to day basis (enter products like the Revlon Lip Butters and the new Chubby Stick dupes from Bourjois). So when I spotted that my local discount pharmacy here in Australia had the 'new' Maybelline Colour Whispers in, there was no way I was passing up giving them a go and seeing if they matched up to my beloved Lip Butters.

Pro - the colour range is nice
Con - the colour range is NO WHERE near as good as the lip butters or the similar L'Oreal offering

Pro - really comfortable to wear on the lips, the  colour stays long after the feeling of a heavy lip product disappears
Con - although the colour wears well, the glossiness doesn't stick around for as long as some of it's competitors

Pro - great packaging, a slimmed down version of the Maybelline colour sensational lipsticks. Don't stain my lips, don't transfer onto my teeth, and feel moisturising on the lips for a substantial amount of time
Con - unlike similar products on the market, the colour is sheer without being build-able; I couldn't seem to deepend the colour with more applications however I only have one colour so can't speak for the entire range.

I picked up the shade Oh La Lilac, a cute pinky lilac colour that complements fair skin and looks great with a subtle smokey eye.

Anyone else given these a go and loved them?

Cool combo's....

I love it when I find two makeup items that just 'work' together.

Sleek blusher Pixie Pink and Elf stippling brush. I love how this brush applies really strong bold blushes that need a light hand when applying.

Bourjois health mix serum and Sigma angled flat top kabuki. This brush makes the foundation go on like silk, with minimum effort. Hardly any blending needed, great when I'm in a rush.

Revlon lip butter in Strawberry Shortcake and Chanel lipgloss in 148. The lip butter is fairly glossy as it is, but with this lipgloss over the top it stays put for hours and gives it a real sparkly party look.

Anyone else got any great combo's?

Face of the day featuring Revlon Lip Butters....

I went round my friends house the other night (only just got around to posting this) and I wouldn't usually make so much of an effort but I was bored so started playing around with some different makeup before I went out! I've hardly tanned recently and been wearing a really light covering of Bourjois Healthy Mix and a touch of powder so this seemed to looks REALLY heavy on my skin which I wasn't much of a fan of.

Benefit Porefessional primer
EL Double Wear
Bobby Brown corrector in Light Bisque
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in Medium
Rimmel Stay Mat Powder in 005 Silky Beige
Vivo highlighter
W7 blush (cheap but amazing!) in Baby Pink
Benefit Lemonaid
Urban Decay Sin from the Naked Palette
Bourjois Extreme Black clubbing mascara (waterproof)
HD Brows in the darkest shade (no idea what it is)
GOSH eyebrow gel
Mac eye Kohl in Smoulder
Revlon Lip Butter in Cupcake

Love how LONG my hair looks in this picture!! I've got extensions in as always but they're only just under an inch longer than my real hair so I just wear them for volume...and my hair looks SO long here!! *does victory air punch and happy dance at the same time*

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine beauts!!

Weekly review... Revlon lip butters....

I heard the hype. I saw the reviews. I dismissed them as something I'd never really be bothered in. I then saw them on my local makeup lady's market stall for 2 for £5 (she buys the testers before they go into stores or something, there are some serious bargains!!) and thought 'I'll give them a go'. Then of course I fell in love with them!

I picked up the colours Peach Parfait and Cupcake, neither of which I'd heard much about. I did really love Strawberry Shortcake (I think that's the name) but Cupcake seemed a much more lilac-pink which I love right now.

Left - Peach Parfait. Right - Cupcake.

Firstly they are SO silky, they do take some effort to build up the colour but I'd read that and was prepared for it. They smell gorgeous, have a gorgeous glossy finish without being sticky like a typical gloss, and don't smudge like I was expecting them to.

Ready for some stupid squinty pictures? Good, because as soon as I set my camera up outside the bloody sun came out and blinded me so I look ridiculous, but the colours do show up lovely!

Peach Parfait has a really obvious gold glitter running through it in the tube but as soon as it's on the lips that sort of disappears which I'm quite pleased about. It's a really natural, 'healthy' colour that I'll be wearing daily from now on!

Cupcake is my new obsession. A real lilac toned pink, this will look AMAZING with a tan, and I'll build the colour up to pair it with a smokey gold eye on a night out!

Has anyone else tried the lip butters? What other shades do you recommend? I'm hoping to go back for some more soon!
